Beauty and Joy
“A thing of Beauty is a joy forever.” John Keats
As autumn continues to dance into winter, I am reminded of Keats’ quote. As the leaves change from green to red to orange to brown and the landscape changes with the changing palette, I realize how each palette is beautiful in its own way. In a way similar to how the combination of instruments and harmonizing voices can be beautiful, (a great example of this is Ed Sheeran’s and Andrea Boccelli’s “Perfect,” which you can view on YouTube by clicking here).
Last year, on a rainy day which gave way to the first snow flurries of the winter season, I walked into an office to be greeted by this bouquet of roses at the front desk, a gift to the receptionist from her husband for her birthday. The flowers made all who came into the office happier as they came from the bleak midwinter to be greeted by the bright roses. I think in a way, our mission on this planet, is to be the “roses” in the world. A large part of our journey in life, a great offshoot of our mission is to bring joy and to encourage other people (roses), so they too can bring joy and encourage others in a beautiful, joyful, circular cycle: a great circle to be a part of.
