Becca and the Sneaky Violinist: Part 5

Post by Onna Carr

“So, what did you think of Peckbridge?” The violinist asked Becca as Ben busied himself picking up the orchestra’s music later that day. “He filled out the paperwork, and I was told he got the part,” Becca said in answer. “Becca, this is me, the sneaky violinist who has been your friend for the past ten years: no one from the production is here: it is off the books, and I want adjectives,” the violinist said with a sprightly smile. “He is arrogant, and he told me I was out of touch with reality,” Becca declared. “Really? How could he say that? Doesn’t he know who he’s talking to? I was hoping that his entry would be better. You know, he isn’t half bad-looking without the makeup and the mask,” the violinist stated. “I fail to see what his appearance has to do with his entry,” Becca replied. “I thought it would be nice if you married the man who was playing The Phantom, which was last played by your father in this theater: it would keep things in the family,” the violinist said. “Sindhi, I do not want nor need a husband. I have Ben, and I have Martin, and I have no romantic inclinations whatsoever. I didn’t have any before the accident, and once men find out about my prosthetic they run: it’s the one positive aspect of losing my leg. Besides, don’t you have to go on a date or something before getting married? I don’t have time for that,” Becca stated. “Ben loves you, and Martin cares for you, but you need someone to fuss with,” Sindhi resumed. “Isn’t that why I have you?” Becca questioned as the two women laughed and Ben came up to them, having finished his work.
