Happy Christmas Eve!

Today is Christmas Eve, and as I write this many people are preparing for their festivities around the world. For me, the holiday season running from December 1 through January 1 and host to various holidays is not complete without the yearly watching of White Christmas, Shrek the Halls and Eloise at Christmas on the Telly served with SoDelicious Coconut Milk Eggnog, GF chocolate chip cookies, summer sausage, cheese, crackers, and those iconic mini hot-dogs or meatballs in grape jelly and barbecue sauce with family.

I am not fond of the commercialization of the Christmas season and staunchly stand with Linus and his buddy Charlie Brown against the commercialization of the holiday (and in support of the Great Pumpkin) that is supposed to celebrate the Savior of the world and instead oftentimes seems to be about defending the holiday lighting tour championship with a giant inflatable Santa and rushing off to buy yet another widget.

I do appreciate some non-commercial aspects of the holiday. I love that it is a time to remember the Savior for many people and to reconnect with friends and loved ones through time together, thoughtful gifts, and cheery cards in the darkest time of the year.

I love the memories of Christmas dinners and the beauty of children dressed in their cutest and best for the holiday, the joy of anticipation, and the glories of good celebrations.

I like that this season can bring out the best in people and show the good of humanity and thoughtfulness as we remember our blessings and are able to bless others in small and large ways.

As Christmas Day approaches, I wish all who celebrate the holiday the very best Christmas so far and that they enjoy the holiday in their own special way, stay safe on their holiday travels, and enjoy those whom they share the day with and that "God bless[es] us, every one!"
