As for George Jr. and little Lydia’s care, Mrs. Bennett, Lydia’s mother, said her nerves were too frayed after Lydia’s and Wickham’s deaths for her to consider taking their children.
Janey was unable to assist with the children as well as she was newly married and was with Bing, who was stationed in California. Elizabeth wanted to take the children, but had neither house nor funds to provide for them.
