Scrappers and Why I Like Stargate Atlantis: Get to the Gate Summer Camp 2018 Begins!

Bob and I discovered Stargate Atlantis through our sci-fi, comic con-loving friend, Kayla, last autumn. Kayla highly recommended both SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. Stargate Atlantis was readily available at our local library, so the rest is intergalactic history. (Thank you, Kayla!) I enjoy watching Stargate Atlantis for many reasons, but I believe the top two reasons are:
1. Stargate Atlantis is about finding community in the vacuum of space and the comradery that develops when people band together under pressure.
2. Lt. Col. John Sheppard, who is one of the scrappiest scrappers in cinematographic history. I appreciate that John Sheppard never gives up on doing the right thing (as far as he knows it to be), no matter what the odds are, and that he doesn't leave people who depend on him behind. These character attributes are rare in television and make Stargate Atlantis a delight to watch. This character, along with his close companions, Teyla Emmagan and Ronon Dex, add a continuity and solidarity to the show that is simply a joy to see progress through the five seasons of the series.
Every Summer, on the Friday Finds Blog, I run a series of posts on a film or a television series. In 2016, I ran a set of posts about The Italian Key on the style of the film, a review on the film, and an interview by Ville Tanttu, the cinematographer from the film, which can be viewed here. In 2017, I ran a series of posts on Star Trek Voyager and B'Elanna Toores which included a VLOG interview of the actress who played her, Roxanne Dawson. These Trekkie posts can be found here.
This Summer, I decided to host a Stargate-theme Summer Camp on my blog, Get to the Gate Summer Camp 2018, which will feature series, episode, and favorite character review posts by fans from around the world as well as interviews by actors from Stargate, and fun VLOGS. Get to the Gate Summer Camp 2018 will have 40 posts every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, over the three month period running from June-August. With this post, Get to the Gate Summer Camp 2018 commences and Friday Finds Blog is re-named to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday Finds Blog! I hope you can join us here at camp as we explore galaxies and go through gates!
