Teal'c & Teyla -- My Cup of Tea Part 1

I came across Stargate Summer Camp 2018 ads a few months ago, and fell in love with the idea. Actually, I love all things Stargate, which presented a problem: which of my favorite characters should I write about? So, I went & put on the tea kettle, (my solution to most of life's problems) & sat down to think. The water boiled, & I poured it into my favorite mug. I added a black tea bag & two cardamom pods. I mulled over my favorite characters as I watched the fragrant steam rise, Ronon Dex, Teyla Emmagan, Teal'c, Lt. Col. John Sheppard, Dr. Carson Beckett, Zelenka, Bratac & the Nox. I pulled the tea bag & cardamom pods out, & added some coconut vanilla creamer & a splash of rose water. I sighed, took a sip, & was struck with an idea. The answer to my dilemma was cradled in my hands -- a cup of "t". Two of my favorite characters had one thing in common: the first letter of their names. Teal'c & Teyla both start with "t"! The more I thought about them, the more I realized they had in common: both joined the SGC in order to free their people from evil regimes, both would do anything in order to preserve their families (whether or not they were blood), both were great warriors, & fiercely loyal friends. I loved watching both of them interacting with their mentors.
And now, here are some of my thoughts on Teal'c:
Teal'c is my favorite character in SG-1 because of his loyalty & fortitude in any & all imaginable situation. If I had to sum up Teal'c's character in one word, I would choose "solid". No matter what happened, Teal'c was always just, there. I loved how he stood by his family, no matter the danger, & always overcame the obstacles that beset them. I loved watching Teal'c & his son, Ryak, & the love & respect they held for each other. One of my favorite things is watching Teal'c interact with children. My favorite Teal'c scene is when he brings Cassie , a little girl, a "superior weapon" (a.k.a. watergun), & proceeds to chase her around with her old one.
