The Custer County Candy Co.

In the heart of the Black Hills, in Custer, South Dakota, is an awesome chocolate shop. The Custer County Candy Co. is a delicious trip. My family and I discovered this amazing shop last autumn. When I was young, I happened to intensely dislike math, and my mother would suggest I "eat the big frog first" when I had to choose between doing math problems and my other subjects. When we walked in the Custer Candy Co. and I discovered their "frog" chocolates (chocolate covered caramel, dried cranberry, cashew confectionery) which are simply awesome in either milk chocolate or dark chocolate varieties, I chose once again to "eat the big frog first!"

The Custer Candy Co. makes their own chocolate candies ranging from frogs, to bars, to clusters, to chocolate-covered marshmallows, and everything in-between as well as an extensive truffle line. The shop also sells imported chocolates and candies as well as nuts and ice cream. This store has a wide variety of old-fashioned candies ranging from taffy to licorices. Many people travel from great distances to taste their once-upon-a-time licorice ice cream (and other flavors) too.

The Custer County Candy Co. sells their hand-crafted chocolate in dark and light varieties by the pound at $19.99 and their truffles at $1.50 each, and their confections are well worth the price. My family and I have tried their frogs, chocolate covered cashew clusters, salted and unsalted chocolate-covered caramels, and peanut clusters--all are delicious trips down chocolate lane. The Custer County Candy Co. can be reached online at their site, http://www.custercountycandycompany.com/default. html. Their products can be shipped directly by calling 605.673.3911. Enjoy!
